Tamang Heritage Trail Trek

Tamang Heritage trail is very newly opened trekking route in popular Langtang trekking region. This trekking route covers culture, religion and daily lifestyle of Tamang community of Langtang region. Tamang heritage trekking trial is located at north of Kathmandu. It is an interesting trek through Tamang villages and settlements. They are descendants from Tibet and have hardly seen any tourists. Their culture is virtually untouched.
 

In the month of March and April Rhododendron forests have many different species of trees, birds and butterflies. Tamang Heritage trail trekking is special for those trekkers, who would like to see traditional and untouched heritage, custom and lifestyle of indigenous Tamang people. During this trekking, you can discover rough history of Tibetan ancestors. Their descendants are now Buddhists and living on agriculture and trade. They dress colorful and their houses are adorned with beautiful woodcarvings. The views of the Himalayan snow-capped mountains will be unforgettable.

Day 01 : Arrival in Kathmandu Airport & Transfer to Hotel:
Welcome to Kathmandu, the capital. You will be met on arrival and transferred to your hotel; here you will be formally introduced to your Guide and the activities to be enjoyed over the next few days.  We will also ask for your passport photographs and any other details required for your trek permits, at this stage.

Day 02 : Full Day Guided Tour in Kathmandu Valley:
After breakfast, you will start an interesting tour around Kathmandu. We will arrange a guide of your chosen language to give you a tour and introduction to our rich culture amongst our ancient and fascinating history and religion. In our sightseeing tour you go to Swayambhunath (Monkey Tembple), Pashupatinath , Boudhanath and Kathmandu Durbar square.

Day 03: Drive to Syabrubesi (1467 m.) via Trishuli (Nuwakot):
You head north out of Kathmandu driving through scenic foothills and ridgeline vistas to Syabrubesi passing through Dhunche which is about eight hours drive. You stay overnight at hotel in Syabrubesi. While passing along the road at the bank of Trishuli river you catch a glimpse of Ganesh Himal, terraces and green hills. As you pass through Dhunche you feel as if you are heading towards deep land. At the same time, you notice that the road after Betrawati is still under construction.

Day 04: Syabrubesi to Gatlang:
After an hour and half of ascent from Syabrubesi we reach the view point from where we can see the fantastic view of Ganesh Himal, Gosaikunda range and the Goljang valley. Now we head down to Goljang valley for the Lunch which is an hour walking down hill from the the view point. Gatlang the beautiful Tamang village is another 3 hrs walk from Goljang. Upon arrival the guests will be welcomed by Khada (white scarf) and the home made local drinks Rakshi accompanied by the welcome song in local language. Get refreshed and enjoy the local Syabru dance. Overnight at the community lodge.

Day 05: Gatlang to Tatopani:
This would be the longest day of the entire trip and will take about 7 hours. The walk begins by descending to Thangbuchet (near Chilime village) by the Bhotekoshi River. Stop for the lunch here. Chilime Hydropower dam is situated here. After lunch the trail will be ascending up crossing the hanging bridge. Ascend continues until you get to Tatopani which literally means 'hot water', you can clean yourself in natural hot springs with bathing areas in the lap of the mountains. Locals believe that the waters have a healing quality that eases away your aches and pains. Dinner and overnight stay at local tea house.

Day 06: Tatopani to Thuman:
The trail ascends to Nagthali Danda (3300m) the high open grassland with amazing views of snow covered Himalayas. Stop for lunch at Brimdang village. After lunch the trek continues ascending to Nagthali Danda. One can enjoy the view and spend some time at the top accompanied by tea prepared by the care taker of the Gompa. Trek continues down to Thuman, Tibetan influenced Tamang village with friendly people who love to sing and dance.

Day 07 : Thuman – Rasuwagadhi (2240m):

Day 10: Briddim to Syabrubeshi (2238m):

Day 11: Syabrubesi to Kathmandu
A pleasant drive back after what has hopefully been a great trek, the route is as it was on the way in but will go quickly as you regale all the fun moments and experiences you have had over the last 10 days.

 

Day 12 : Free day in Kathmandu:
Enjoy a day exploring some of the quieter streets of Kathmandu, stocking up on souvenirs and presents for those back home.  This evening you have a farewell dinner, you will be picked up in good time

Day 13 : Final Departure:
You will be met at your hotel and taken to the airport in good time to meet your flight home.
